Cancer prevention – why is it so important?

Malignant tumours are one of the most common causes of death worldwide. In Poland, tens of thousands of new cases of cancer are diagnosed every year, and forecasts show that this number will continue to grow. That is why preventive measures, such as screening and genetic testing, are becoming a key element of modern healthcare.

Early detection - a better chance of recovery

The main goal of cancer screening is to detect the disease at a very early stage. Early diagnosis significantly increases the chance of effective treatment and complete recovery of the patient.

Prevention is not just about imaging tests

Imaging tests allow for the detection of cancer and enable treatment to be started even at a very early stage of cancer development. This is a key element of prevention. Modern diagnostic tools, including genetic testing, are also becoming increasingly important. They make it possible to determine the risk of developing the disease with greater precision, even before any changes occur in the body.

Genetic testing and cancer prevention

What can we discover through DNA testing?

Genetic testing allows us to detect mutations in genes that may increase the risk of developing cancer. People with such genetic changes may not show any symptoms of the disease, but knowing about their presence allows them to consciously take care of their health.

An example is mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, which significantly increase the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Similar correlations also occur in the case of colon, pancreatic and prostate cancer.

Benefits of genetic testing

Thanks to the information obtained through genetic testing, we can:

  • adapt our lifestyle to our individual predispositions (e.g. avoid smoking, reduce alcohol consumption, introduce an appropriate diet),
  • intensify medical check-ups and perform appropriate imaging tests more frequently,
  • consciously plan possible preventive measures,
  • protect our family – if a mutation is identified in one family member, other relatives can also be tested to determine their risk of developing the disease.

Personalised cancer prevention

Knowledge of genetic risk allows you to create an individual prevention plan. This is particularly important for people with a family history of cancer. Genetic testing allows you to determine your actual risk of developing cancer and reduce its possible effects – and often even prevent the disease altogether.

ONKO-MAX – comprehensive genetic testing

The ONKO-MAX package plays a special role in our preventive offer – it is an advanced genetic test that analyses over 90 genes responsible for hereditary predisposition to cancer.

Who is ONKO-MAX for?

The ONKO-MAX test is recommended for people:

  • who have cases of cancer in their immediate family,
  • who want to consciously take care of their health and prevent the development of disease,
  • who have already undergone cancer treatment and want to know their risk of recurrence or developing other types of cancer.

What does the test involve?

  • analyses the coding sequences of over 90 genes associated with cancer,
  • identifies mutations – pathogenic variants correlated with a predisposition to cancer,
  • enables the creation of a plan for further diagnosis and prevention,
  • It is performed on a blood or saliva sample – safely and painlessly.

Take care of your health and that of your loved ones

Modern medicine gives us powerful tools to fight cancer - before it even appears. Cancer prevention is not just about imaging tests or cytology. It is about knowledge of genetic predisposition, which allows us to prevent disease or detect it at a very early stage.

Take advantage of genetic testing and stay one step ahead of the disease. Check out our range of tests and choose the package that suits your needs.
